Buddy system
When it comes to MusicalFare Theatre’s remounting of its hit 2008 season opener “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,” the message couldn’t be clearer. In the words of the bespectacled rocker himself: “You don’t know what you’ve been missin’.” Joe Wiens, with his dead-on interpretation of the late, great musician, will anchor the original cast of the crowd-pleasing bio-musical when a three-week run of the show opens at MusicalFare (4380 Main St., Amherst) at 7 p. m. Wednesday, following a half-price preview performance at 7 p. m. Tuesday. The show takes audiences on a trip through Holly’s career, from his start with the Lubbock, Texas, band the Crickets to his first record deal, and finally his famed last concert with the Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and others. The cast also includes Todd Benzin, Billy Horn, Philip Farugia, Paschal Frisina III, Robert “Ernie” Insana, Debbie Pappas, Lia Sumerano, Ronald J. Leonardi and Adrienne Lewis. The show runs through July 25. For more information, call 839-8540 or visit www.musicalfare.com . —Colin Dabkowski
