Plan on it
Eleven years ago, they did their first show—completely unplanned.
But they planned to do it unplanned, and many fans have since fit them into their plans. We’re talking about the Eclectic Improv Company, a Shea’s Smith Theatre regular that on Saturday will celebrate its 11th anniversary with an event that has the group welcoming its Canadian counterpart.
At 8 p. m. the group will perform its completely unscripted comedy act with Toronto’s Bad Dog Theatre Company. Both groups perform their ad-lib skits from ideas bounced off each other and the crowd, so you really don’t know what to expect. But Eclectic Improv has always promised to stay clean and family-friendly for its monthly Eclectic Boogaloo! show, which is in its fourth season at Shea’s Smith Theatre (660 Main St.).
Bad Dog has twice been named NOW Magazine’s “Best Improv Theatre” in Toronto and remains the longest-running improv show in the city, dating back to its “Theatresports” fame.
Tickets are $10, available at Ticketmaster locations and the Shea’s box office.
