A‘Mermaid’Christmas
Jodi Benson, the voice of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” is back in town to sing with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus for Holiday Pops. The much-anticipated concert, directed this year by Robert Franz, is like a candy jar full of little bon-bons.
Miss Benson will sing songs including “O Holy Night,” “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and, for a change of pace, “Part of Your World,” from “The Little Mermaid.”
In between her numbers, the BPO will serve up classics and novelties including “Brazilian Sleigh Bells,” a Hanukkah Festival Overture, “Sleigh Ride” and “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” with Benson as narrator. The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is going to sing John Rutter’s luminous “Gloria.”
The concert ends with a carol singalong.
Catch the BPO’s Holiday Pops at 8 tonight and Saturday and 2 p. m. Sunday. Admission is $25 to $57. For more information, call 885-5000. — Mary Kunz Goldman
