When you’re feeding hungry brew enthusiasts at Art of Beer, the usual just won’t do.

When it came time for Tom Herrick, the chef at Wine on Third (501 Third St., Niagara Falls, 285-9463) to come up with his contribution to the annual event, he hit the bottle. His bid: creamy soup made with gouda cheese and Blue Moon wheat beer, paired with a whiskey bread for dipping.

“We make all our doughs from scratch, and we’re very flexible with menu creativity,” said manager Maya Amir.

The Art of Beer, being held from 6 to 9 p.m. next Thursday in the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls), is the NACC’s biggest annual fundraiser. The center, home to more than 70 artist studios and arts groups, was founded in 2001.

At the event, the upscale Niagara Falls wine bar and pizza café will offer tastes alongside restaurants like Brickyard Pub & Barbecue, Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, Pan American Grill & Brewery, Woodcock Brothers Brewing Company, Lewiston Village Pub and Buffalo Wild Wings, and the Niagara Falls Conference Center.

To drink? Well, it is the Art of Beer. Expect pourings provided by Consumers Beverages, Community Beer Works, CB Craft Brewers, Chateau Buffalo, Certo Brothers, Try-It and Wright Beverage.

There’s also live music, ranging from blues and country to solo acoustic guitar.

Tickets are $30 advance, $35 door. Advance tickets are available in the NACC, through www.thenacc.org and at Niagara Tradition Home Brew Supply (1296 Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda, 877-8767).
