The Wall Street Journal may have insulted Buffalo not long ago, but New York magazine loves us, at least in its online edition.
New York devoted its Aug. 1 travel blog to exploring architecture in Buffalo.
Under “What To Do” it suggests Silo City, the Pierce Arrow Museum and various Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, as well as kayaking on the Buffalo River and taking in a concert at Kleinhans Music Hall.
As far as where to eat, it recommends Martin Cooks, the Lodge and the soon-to-be-open Oshun Oyster Bar.
And “An Oddball Day” focuses on Polonia, with destinations including Mazurek’s Bakery, Corpus Christi Church, St. Stanislaus, the Broadway Market and the R&L Lounge. Oh, no! With all those tourists we might have to get in the habit of phoning in advance for our Genny.
We have it on good authority that Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra board member Cindy Abbott Letro had a hand in this, that she met the writer of the article over the summer and gave him some tips. Go, Cindy!
