Squeaky Wheel is a Buffalo treasure. Canalside is a Buffalo treasure. So Squeaky’s Tuesday Night Flicks at Canalside could be called a marriage made in Buffalo heaven.
The series is not the first time the nonprofit media arts center has held events at Canalside – last summer saw the bicycle-themed Wheel-to-Reel Film Series and an encore presentation of its Outdoor Animation Festival – but this is certainly the longest-lasting, and largest scale.
Scheduled for sundown every Tuesday through Aug. 22, the collection of films presented is unique and varied, with fare for families and cinephiles.
Squeaky’s annual Outdoor Animation Fest is back on Aug. 5, the Coen brothers’ beloved “The Big Lebowski” is screened on Aug. 12, and the unique “Silent/Sound,” featuring surrealist films and a live score by punk-garage legends the Vores, is presented on Aug. 19.
The series ends Aug. 26 with the intriguingly titled “Endless Summer Remix Dance Party,” with live DJs.
Food vendors and music start at 8:30 p.m. Adirondack chairs are available for the first 100 guests. Visit www.squeaky.org for more information.
