Even though I’m still miffed that “Driving Miss Daisy” took home an Oscar for Best Picture in 1990 while Spike Lee’s classic “Do the Right Thing” failed to even score a nomination, I understand folks adore the tale of Miss Daisy and her chauffeur, Hoke. The latest stage adaptation, performed in front of sold-out crowds on Broadway and London’s West End, stars James Earl Jones and Angela Lansbury. A performance filmed on the play’s Australian tour will be screened at noon on June 8 and 7 p.m. on June 9 in the Dipson Amherst Theatre (3500 Main St.). Visit www.dipsontheatres.com.
The North Park’s Summer Family Matinee series continues at 11:30 a.m. on June 7 and 8 with the delightfully entertaining “Despicable Me 2.” Coming up next: “How to Train Your Dragon” on June 14015.
