Talk about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
The members of the all-female pop/ a cappella act Fifth Harmony all participated in the second season of the televised talent show “The X Factor” as individual performers. However, all five of the ladies failed to make it past the “Judges’ House” level of the competition. It only was when they bonded and banded together as a group that Ally Brooke, Normani Hamilton, Lauren Jauregui, Camilla Cabello and Dinah Jane Hansen were able to advance in the competition, eventually making it as far as the final three.
The group may not have taken the top “X Factor” prize, but things have been going swimmingly in the time since, as it released the “Better Together” album to commercial and critical acclaim, and fine-tuned its harmony act through significant touring.
Fifth Harmony arrives for a show at 8 p.m. Monday in the Town Ballroom (681 Main St.). Tickets are $21 advance, $24 day of show (box office, Tickets.com).
