Savoy Brown, featuring guitarist Kim Simmonds, became famous as one of the earliest British blues bands. Formed in London, England, in 1965, the group helped spark the British blues craze and went on to lasting success. Known for hard-driving blues, Savoy Brown always has been equally known for its uncompromising touring.
Buffalo saw quite a bit of Savoy Brown years ago thanks to the old Lafayette Tap Room, and now the band continues to roll through town, playing other venues. Drink a toast to this hard-bitten blues band, and to its longevity, when Savoy Brown plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Sportsmen’s Tavern (326 Amherst St.). Admission is $30 at the door.
