The last of this summer’s Buffalo Place Rocks Canalside weekends kicks off Friday, as Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo return for a full-force tour through several decades of massive rock radio hits, among them “Heartbreaker,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Love is A Battlefield.”
Guitarist (and Benatar’s husband) Giraldo first cut his teeth as a member of Rick Derringer’s band. But from the beginning of Benatar’s career, he has been by her side, his songwriting, production and guitar-playing skills lending muscle to his spouse’s music. Benatar’s impressive range and impeccable pitch have not given way to the ravages of time’s passing – she still sounds amazing.
A solo turn from former Animals/War frontman – and living rock royalty – Eric Burdon rounds out the show, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday.
Four-time Juno winner and platinum-selling Canadian singer, songwriter and bandleader Matthew Good headlines the Rocks Canalside finale at 6 p.m. Saturday. Good will be joined by fellow Canadians Big Wreck, whose frontman Ian Thornley has been called the Chris Cornell of the Great White North.
Tickets for both shows are $15 advance, $20 day of show (www.buffaloplace.com).
