Here’s a musical marriage made in heaven. Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin have both been crafting deeply moving music within the singer-songwriter genre for several decades now, in the process selling millions of albums and racking up Grammy awards and nominations by the armload. The two also happen to be longtime friends, a relationship bolstered by mutual respect for each other’s work and many years of shared experiences.
For their 2013 tour, Colvin and Chapin Carpenter are teaming for an intimate set of duets, which will find the two accompanying each other on a selection of the best-loved songs of both, as well as on some specially chosen covers. They perform together at 8 p.m. Friday in the Riviera Theatre (67 Webster St., North Tonawanda). Tickets are $39-$44 (box office, www.rivieratheatre.org).
