Country music stars look different these days. Gone are the more haggard looks of Willie, Waylon and, well, Merle Haggard, and in are the trucker hats, 5 o’clock shadow and suntans of a never-ending succession of new Southern rockers. Take your pick through the list of CMT personalities and you’ll find that being able to wield a Gibson on songs about whiskey, women and America’s heartland just won’t cut it anymore. You’ve got to be talented – but it helps to have Tiger Beat looks, too.

Just ask Keith Urban. The “American Idol” heartthrob and New Zealand native is arguably the godfather of this model-meets-Mayberry movement, set to be on display at 7 p.m. Friday at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center when his “Raise ’Em Up” tour (with Jerrod Niemann and Brett Eldredge) rolls into town.

Tickets are $29.50 to $59.75 (www.ticketmaster.com).
