It’s been a summer of stars for music fans in Western New York, with everyone from mega-stars Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga to such classics as Aretha Franklin and Hall and Oates appearing here.

Add James Taylor to the list today.

The original JT – Sorry, Mr. Timberlake – will appear tonight at First Niagara Center. If recent reviews are any indication, fans should get what they came for.

The Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger said “He remains one of the most reliable entertainers in American popular music — a storyteller and sit-down strummer with a voice rich as Carolina soil.”

The headline in the Toronto Sun called his show “pure perfection.”

And the Columbus Dispatch review – headlined “Old favorites still warm and fuzzy” – said “Taylor’s ability to make a soul song his own was as strong as ever.”

Taylor played a memorable show here in 2011 at Kleinhan’s Music Hall. He isn’t the first act to segue from small to large venues and vice versa. Check out some of the others at buffalo.com
