Sure, and you know it’s summer when the Buffalo Irish Center rolls out a chain of outdoor concerts.

The Irish Center, 245 Abbott Road, has announced a dandy series of concerts called “Thursdays Under the Tent.” The bands will play under a big tent, admission is free, and food trucks – including, it is whispered, the Guinness truck – are in the offing. There will be a full bar including, of course, beer.

The concerts begin in August, just about the time when we will all be in the mood for something new. Meanwhile the Irish Center is seeking sponsors, should anyone want to step up and kiss the Blarney stone.

Here is the schedule.

Aug. 7: The Diva Show Band.

Aug. 14: Pirate Dreams, an acclaimed Jimmy Buffett tribute band.

Aug. 21: Passion Works plays rock.

Aug. 28: West of the Mark plays country music.

All shows take place from 5 to 9 p.m.

“Our focus is to spread the word we are not a private club – we are open to the public year-round with low drink prices, friendly people, and reasonable banquet rooms to rent for parties,” said Irish Center board member Mary Clare Dolata, who is helping to organize the concerts.

There are no Irish bands, she points out. “It’s strictly summer fun with lots of fun drink specials and whatever surprises we can create.”
