Can the Barenaked Ladies cut the mustard without the presence of one half of their songwriting team, in the form of the departed Steven Page? This and other important questions will be answered when the band – surviving Page’s departure from the ranks quite nicely, if we can judge by the most recent effort, “Grinning Streak” – arrives for a show at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the University at Buffalo’s Center for the Arts, North Campus, Amherst.

Singer/guitarist Ed Robertson, bassist/vocalist Jim Creeggan, keyboardist/vocalist Kevin Hearn and drummer/vocalist Tyler Stewart are soldiering on, adding to a legacy that already includes worldwide sales in excess of 14 million albums and a reputation as one of the sharpest, and most hilarious, rock bands extant.

Hear the hits, hear the new stuff, help the band celebrate its 25th anniversary and have yourself a ball. Tickets are $35 to $65 (box office). Visit www.ubcfa.org.
