The Grammy Award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin can do it all, from Appalachian back-porch picking to blues to the outer reaches of classical music. Once, in Buffalo, she proved herself especially versatile navigating the twists and turns of a score by Lukas Foss.
Isbin surrounds herself with like-minded artists. On her latest album, “Guitar Passions,” she is joined by friends including Stanley Jordan, singer Nancy Wilson from Heart, Steve Morse, Steve Vai, Paul Winter and Romero Lubambo.
Jordan and Lubambo will appear with Isbin at 7:30 tonight in the University at Buffalo’s Center for the Arts. Like Isbin, Jordan is remarkably versatile, capable of everything from burly bass lines to classical trills. Lubambo is often described as Brazil’s leading guitarist, and his South American stylings will add a spicy change of pace.
Admission is $26.50-$36.50. For more information, call 645-ARTS.
