Getting juice in the comedy industry can be hard.
But get a little help from Kevin Hart and the attention will start flowing.
Na’im Lynn and Will “Spank” Horton know it. Fresh off their gig as the opening act on Hart’s 2013 “Let Me Explain” tour, the comedians known as the Plastic Cup Boyz will be playing shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. May 16 in the Tralf Music Hall as part of the “Friday Night Laughs” series. Rod Stapleton is the opening act and host of the show.
After the Hart tour, the Boyz have been filling club-sized venues around the country with audiences eager to get the more intimate version of their mature-themed routines. In a recent interview, Lynn revealed that they’re expecting to shoot a comedy special sometime soon, too.
The Boyz have been associated closely with Hart for a few years now. Search around and you’ll even find logos of a red Solo-style cup with the words “Kevin Hart’s Plastic Cup Boyz” emblazoned on it.
They have his endorsement, but will get they will they get his laughs?
The answer to that is all in the jokes.
Tickets are $25 for the 8 p.m. show; $30 for the 10:30 p.m. show (box office, Ticketmaster. Seats are also on sale at Doris Records, 286 East Ferry St., and the Oakk Room Restaurant, 1435 Main St.
