Q: Patrick Swayze and his mother were very close. Please let me know if she is alive. —Anne Roberts, Palm City, Fla.
A: Yes, his Houston-based choreographer mother, Patsy, is still living. Swayze met his wife, Lisa Niemi, when she was taking dance from his mother. The actor—who died of pancreatic cancer Sept. 14—is also survived by two brothers, one of whom is fellow actor Don, and an adopted sister. His father died in 1982.
Q: I am an avid viewer of “Bones,” and I can find no reference to the group that does the background music. Can you tell me who it is and if it has put out any CDs?— Michael Porter, Irvine, Calif.
A: The theme for Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz’s series is performed by The Crystal Method, who also wrote it— but if you’re actually asking about the composer of the Fox show’s episodic background music, which generally is who gets the “Music by” credit on a series, there have been two. Peter Himmelman handled that job for the first three seasons, then it was taken over by Sean Callery, who also has done work for Fox as the composer for “24.”
An official “Bones” sound-track album was released last year, and it includes the aforementioned theme music as well as cuts by Sinead O’Connor and Sarah McLachlan, among others. Himmelman has several CDs of his other work in release, including “Mission of My Soul: The Best of Peter Himmelman.”
