Saturday: Bernadette Peters. Oct. 11: “Play Ball! The Music of Sports”: The concert includes a video montage of some of Buffalo’s great sports moments. Oct. 25: Pianist Michael Cavanaugh, the star of the Broadway Musical “Movin’ Out,” presents a Billy Joel tribute. Nov. 8: Marvin Hamlisch presents a tribute to songwriter Irving Berlin. Nov. 22: “Cirque de la Symphonie” features cirque artists, including acrobats, contortionists and aerial flyers. Dec. 19, 20 and 21: The HSBC Holiday Pops. Jan. 31, 2009: The Lettermen sing retro hits. Feb. 14, 2009: Dancing with the Buffalo Stars –A Valentine’s Special. Feb. 28, 2009: Marvin Hamlisch and the BPO salute Jerome Kern. March 25, 2009: “Dancing With the Buffalo Stars” brings local celebrities and accomplished dancers into the spotlight. March 28: Harold Arlen special features pianist Kevin Cole. April 25, 2009: The Smothers Brothers present an evening of comedy with the BPO. May 23, 2009: BPO clarinetist Sal Andolina and his big band pay homage to Artie Shaw. June 6: A salute to the music of Queen.
