Q: I just started watching “Law&Order: Criminal Intent,” and Vincent D’Onofrio is awesome. What is he doing now?— Estella Yancey, Davenport, Fla.

A: In part, the main answer is that he’s still doing “Criminal Intent.”

However, he’s reportedly part of a cast purge that will leave relative newcomer Jeff Goldblum the only fully continuing cast member when the police drama resumes new episodes next year on USA Network.

D’Onofrio may be back for several appearances as unpredictable sleuth Robert Goren during the show’s upcoming ninth season. He also has worked on two feature films this year, “The Irishman” and “Down and Dirty Pictures.”

Q: Back in the early 1960s, Jackie Cooper starred in a television series called “Hennesey,” about a Navy doctor. What ever happened to Jackie Cooper?— Alex Kaleta, Wauwatosa, Wis.

A: Former child star Cooper —who became a sensation in the 1931 version of “The Champ”—has been retired from show business since the late 1980s, when his last acting credits included “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” (in which he reprised the role of Daily Planet editor Perry White) and the Michael Caine-Sally Field comedy “Surrender.”

Cooper also did a considerable amount of television directing during his career, including three “Hennesey” episodes.

Among his final credits in that vein were “Magnum, P. I.,” “Cagney&Lacey,” “Simon&Simon,” and the syndicated “The Adventures of Superboy.”
