“It associated me with a group of girls I’d rather not be associated with.” — Mischa Barton Federline: Sole custody.

All grown up ...

Mischa Barton says she thought getting arrested for drunken driving was something that happened to another type of Hollywood celebrity, not her.

“That was a low point for me. I never, ever would have thought I would be arrested,” she says in the August issue of Nylon of the December incident. “I was disappointed because it associated me with a group of girls that I would rather not be associated with.”

Now living in Paris, the former “O. C.” star pleaded no contest to drunken driving in April and was sentenced to three years of probation.

Still, the repentant 22-year-old doesn’t plan on taking up the quiet, studious life of others her own age.

“I would want to go to college for the learning, but there’s so much else that comes with that that I don’t think I need anymore,” she says. “I’ve been making my own money and living as an adult for far too long.”

K-Fed retains custody ...

Britney Spears and her ex Kevin Federline have reached a custody settlement in their epic, year-and-a-half court battle over their two sons.

According to the agreement, reportedly signed by all parties, Federline retains sole custody of the couple’s two sons, Preston, 2ø, and Jayden, 1ø. Spears — who’s currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week — will keep her visitation rights.

“The case has been settled,” Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! Online. “The court still has to approve it.”

The legal saga, which began with shared 50-50 custody in July 2007.

“Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court,” says L. A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who is not involved with the case. “Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One.”

Hayek ends engagement ...

Salma Hayek has called off her engagement to businessman Francois- Henri Pinault, her representative said Friday.

The couple announced their plans to wed in March 2007, and welcomed a daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, several months later.

“We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois- Henri Pinault has been canceled,” publicist Cari Ross said in a statement. “There will be no further comment.”
