Born in New York City and raised in Atlanta, Danley was educated at Howard University and earned a master’s degree in radio, television and film at Syracuse University. A newcomer to the then-emerging genre of slam poetry, she won the 1994 National Individual Slam Poetry competition in Ashville, N. C., and the 1996 International Slam Poet Championship competition in Heidelberg, Germany. Now a teaching artist and performer of “Brilliance,” a one-woman show, she is the author of three books “Naked,” “Soulful—A Slam Poetry Study Guide,” and “Passionate—Poems You Can Feel.”Buffalo and Erie County Central Library Auditorium, 1 Lafayette Square.
