WEDNESDAY, 4:30 p.m.: “Writing to Music,” a Rooftop Poetry Club workshop with Caity Brady. International Students Reading Area, third floor SE quadrant, E. H. Butler Library, Buffalo State College, 1300 Elmwood Ave.
WEDNESDAY, 6p.m.: UB Poetics Program reading by Jorge Guitart, author of “The Empress of Frozen Custard and Ninety-Nine Other Poems” (BlazeVox Books). Poetry Collection, 420 Capen Hall, University at Buffalo North Campus.
WEDNESDAY, 7:30 p.m.: Third Annual Gray Hair Open Heart Reading: “—and in with the new,” in which Earth’s Daughters invites non-gray hair readers to share romantic or seasonal poetry. Poets 40 and younger may read their own work and poets of a certain age may read the work of a younger writer. Hallwalls Cinema, 341 Delaware Ave., (near Tupper).
THURSDAY, 7p.m.: The Write Thing Series reading by award-winning Vietnamese- American novelist Lily Hoang, author of “Parabola” (winner of Chiasmus Press’ “Un-Doing the Novel” Contest in 2006) and “Changing” (winner of the 2009 PEN/Beyond Margins Award). Hoang has two novels scheduled for release this year. The Library in Huber Hall, Medaille College, 18 Agassiz Circle.
FRIDAY, 3:30 p.m.: “Disquiet,” a UB Poetics Program lecture by Canadian avant-garde poet Lisa Robertson. Robertson, a longtime member and resident of Vancouver’s the Kootenay School of Writing, currently teaches at the California College for the Arts in San Francisco. Poetry Collection, 420 Capen Hall, University at Buffalo North Campus.
FRIDAY, 8p.m.: UB Poetics Program reading by Lisa Robertson, author of the notable collection “The Weather” (2001), “Rousseau’s Boat” (2004) and “The Men: A Lyric Book” (2006). Rust Belt Books, 202 Allen St.
SATURDAY, 6p.m.: Reading of “Surviving New York,” a new story by Josh Smith. Additional reading slots available. Music by the Niagara Falls-based band Billy Draws Two to follow. Buffalo East, 1412 Main St. (near Utica). $3.
