The Jewish Repertory Theatre is offering acting classes for children, which will begin in January. Classes will be divided into grades K-2 and 3-6 and will take place in the Jewish Community Center locations at 787 Delaware Ave. and 2640 N. Forest Road, Getzville. Registration begins Thursday. B_Team Buffalo is seeking volunteers to help with the “City of Light” event, which takes place from 10 a. m. to 7 p. m. Dec. 13 beginning in the Seneca Babcock Community Center at 1168 Seneca St. The B_Team will decorate the homes and businesses along Seneca Street for the holiday season, ending with a celebration and tree-lighting ceremony. Auditions
The Paul Robeson Theatre will hold auditions at 7 p. m. Monday for the upcoming production of “The Bluest Eye.” Men and women ages 20-50 are sought and are asked to prepare one monologue. For more information, call 884-2013.
The Niagara Regional Theatre Guild will hold auditions to fill the two roles for the February production of “Love Letters.” Auditions will take place at 7 p. m. The Buffalo Zoo is currently accepting entries for its amateur photo contest. Participants can enter photographs in five categories, including best mammal, best reptile/amphibian/ fish, best bird/plant/insect, zoo humor (caption required) and best photograph taken by a student (18 years old or younger). There is a $10 entry fee for the first photo and $5 for each photograph submitted after that by the same contestant. Zoo members are entitled to one free entry. Entry deadline is Dec. 31. . The Tifft Nature Preserve is accepting applications for a photo contest. Photos, no larger than 8x10, must be taken at Tifft between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31, 2009. There is a limit of four photos maximum per submission. All photos must be au natural with no photo enhancement. A small submission fee is required.
