The Viva Vivaldi season continues in full swing this weekend with the third concert of the annual Baroque festival. It takes place at 6:30 p. m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church on Symphony Circle. As special guests for this concert, the Ars Nova Musicians and their joyous director, Marylouise Nanna, are welcoming the Buffalo Suzuki Strings, who are playing an arrangement of a Vivaldi violin concerto. The evening also includes a Vivaldi concerto featuring Amy Glidden, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s associate concertmaster, and a theme and variations by the wonderful Arcangelo Corelli (one of Vivaldi’s Vicarious Visionaries). Fans of Nanna, take note: “La Maestra in the House,” the acclaimed documentary made by Nanna’s niece Julia D’Amico, will be screened before the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s Saturday night concert at Kleinhans Music Hall. Filmed mostly in Buffalo, the documentary explores her background and Buffalo heritage, and features many of Nanna’s fellow musicians discussing her singular devotion to music. The movie screening is at 6:30 p. m., and the concert—featuring pianist Roman Rabinovich and BPO Concertmaster Michael Ludwig—begins at 8 p. m. For information on Viva Vivaldi, call 662-3598. For info on the BPO concert, call 885-5000. —Mary Kunz Goldman
