Visitors at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport can take a little side trip into America’s Grape Country. An exhibit in the airport’s Regional Gallery Showcase, “Sip, Swirl, Savor the Experience,” touts the region’s role as the “Grape Juice Capital of the World” and its growing importance in the nation’s wine industry. The exhibit will remain in the airport gallery, which is located inside security across from the Anchor Bar, through October. The Art of the Broadside celebrates 40 years of the art of the poetry broadside drawn from the collection of White Pine Press. The live auction and sale takes place from 7 to 10 p. m. next Friday, with previews from noon to 6 p. m. Wednesday and Thursday, in WNY Book Arts Center, 468 Washington St. The auction includes a wine and cheese reception. Auditions

The Amherst Male Glee Club is opening membership to men of all ages who like to sing. Rehearsals take place every Thursday in Amherst High School, 4301 Main St., Amherst. Interested singers can come for open rehearsals on Thursday, Sept. 16 or 23. Call 875-2958.

The Grand Island Community Chorus invites all interested singers to participate in the first fall rehearsal at 7 p. m. Sept. 12 in New Apostolic Church, Stony Point and Bedell roads, Grand Island. Call 773-5075.

The Cheektowaga Community Chorus will hold auditions for new members in all vocal parts from 7 to 9:30 p. m. Tuesdays throughout September in Cleveland Heights Christian Church, 4774 Union Road, Cheektowaga. Cheektowaga residency is not required. Auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life” will take place at 7 p. m. Sept. 14 and 15 and at 10 a. m. Sept. 18 in Springville Center for the Arts, 37 N. Buffalo St., Springville. Actors of all ages are sought for 26 roles. Crew members are also needed. Performances run from Dec. 2-12. Call 592-9038.

Calls for Work

The Family Justice Center is seeking submissions for its third annual juried art show and auction, “Mosaic,” which is a silent and live auction featuring works by Western New York artists. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p. m. Oct. 21 in Asbury Hall, 341 Delaware Ave.

The show is open to artists 16 years and older working on canvas and paper in any medium, including photography. The show recognizes the courage and resilience of survivors of domestic violence, so works must be culturally sensitive and focused on change and hope. Submissions must be received by Sept. 13.
