They are the very definition of debonair: elegant, gracious, well-bred. Classic movie stars Cary Grant and Ronald Colman are also suave, sophisticated and, oh, so handsome. Their films will be the main attraction of the film series aptly titled “The Debonairs (Part One).” Presented by the Old Chestnut Film Society and Ken-Ton Community Education, this long-running series presents some wonderful classic movies in a relaxed atmosphere where you can chat with other film buffs and win a door prize. Feel free to bring munchies, too. The series opens tonight with Colman starring in an early film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities” (1935).

Coming up: Nov. 6, “The Awful Truth” (1937) starring Grant and Irene Dunne; Dec. 4, “Under Two Flags” (1936) with Colman and Claudette Colbert; Jan. 8, “Talk of the Town” (1942) showcases the comic side of Grant and Colman who team up with Jean Arthur; Feb. 5, “Random Harvest” (1942) stars Colman alongside the lovely Greer Garson in this epic romance; March 5, “Mr. Lucky” (1943) stars Grant and Laraine Day; April 3, “Champagne for Caesar” (1950) has Colman starring with Vincent Price and Celeste Holm; May 8, “North by Northwest” (1959) features Grant, James Mason and Eva Marie Saint in this Alfred Hitchcock classic.

The movies start at 7:30 p. m. in the Community Room of the Phillip Sheridan School, 3200 Elmwood Ave. Tickets are $6 or $32 for the series. Call 836-4757.
