Q: What happened to “Chopping Block” Wednesdays on NBC?— Carol Jimerson, Gowanda,

N. Y.

A: The cooking show was chopped itself by the network due to a substantial drop-off in ratings in its early weeks. NBC has said it hopes to bring the show back at some point, but at the time this was written, we’d heard nothing more about that.

Q: One of my favorite shows is “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” What has happened to it? Has it been canceled?— Carol Kessler, Lancaster, Ohio

A: Host Jeff Foxworthy will be back with new episodes starting July 3. There’s even more good news: A fresh half-hour version will be syndicated to local stations beginning this fall, with Foxworthy.

•••

Q: I know Peter Graves of “Mission: Impossible” and James Arness of “Gunsmoke” are brothers. Does either use his given name?— Ronald Paris, McKinney, Texas

A: The roughly three-years-older Arness was born James Aurness, and his sibling’s given name is Peter Aurness. They’re natives of Minneapolis.

Q: I really enjoyed “The Riches” on FX. When will it return this year?— Betsy Bay, Anaheim, Calif.

A: It won’t. The network canceled the Eddie Izzard-Minnie Driver series after two seasons; both are available on DVD.
