Mandymarries…

MandyMoore is a married woman.

Publicist Jillian Fowkes confirms the actress-singer and her fiance, rock musician Ryan Adams, quietly tied the knot Tuesday in Savannah, Ga. No further details were provided.

The 24-year-old Moore confirmed her engagement to Adams last month.

Moore started out as a squeaky-clean teen singer and later crossed into movies with featured roles in such films as “License to Wed,” “A Walk to Remember,” “Saved” and “American Dreamz.” Adams, who played in the band Whiskeytown during the 1990s before beginning his prolific solo career, is known for his song “New York, New York.”

Roadtrip…

Retired NBC “Nightly News” anchor Tom Brokaw, 69, has signed on for a USA network project that will have him traveling along U. S. Highway 50 in the coming months, reporting on the economic crisis and Americans’ reaction to the first year of President Obama’s administration.

“What I’ve learned is it’s pretty hard to shift my motor into a lower gear,” Brokaw said.

Brokaw’s road trip along Highway 50 is an unusual foray into news for USA net-work. Some of his pieces will appear on NBC News programming before “Highway 50:A Road Trip Across Obama’s America” is aired next year, around the first anniversary of Obama’s inauguration.

Bristol’s breakup…

WASILLA, Alaska (AP)—Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Gov. Sarah Palin, have broken off their engagement, he said Wednesday, about 2ø months after the couple had a baby.

Johnston, 19, told the Associated Press that he and Bristol Palin, 18, mutually decided “a while ago” to end their relationship. He declined to elaborate as he stood outside his family’s home in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage.

Bristol Palin said in a statement issued through a spokeswoman for her mother’s political action committee that she was “devastated.”

The two teens are the parents of a boy named Tripp, who was born on Dec. 27.

Backto school…

Jada Pinkett Smith is adding another title to her resume: schoolmaster.

The 37-year-old actress-producer-musician and her husband, Will Smith, opened the New Village Leadership Academy in Los Angeles last fall. The private school, for prekindergarten through sixth grade, has 60 students, according to the Web site.

Pinkett Smith hopes to open a companion campus for upper grades. “My plan is to eventually have a high school,” she said.

Pinkett Smith, who is set to star in and executive-produce a new “HawthoRNe” series on TNT, said she decided to open the school after creating a home-school program for her children, 10-year-old Jaden and 8-year-old Willow. “More and more parents were like, ‘Can we come?’” she said. “Then my house started to fill up. We had like 20 kids and I said, ‘We might as well start a school.’”

The New Village Leadership Academy relies on instructional methods developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard’s “study technology” is a secular course akin to a Montessori approach, the Web site says. Pinkett Smith said the school stresses “100 percent mastery,” encouraging students to retake exams until they score 100 percent. “It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she said.
