Sexy mom …

Alongside a photo spread that shows her in little more than a T-shirt, Halle Berry talks about being the sexiest woman alive, a title Esquire magazine gives her in its November issue.

“I don’t know exactly what it means, but being 42 and having just had a baby, I think I’ll take it,” says Berry, who gave birth to her daughter, Nahla, in March.

“Sexiness is a state of mind — a comfortable state of being,” she says. “It’s about loving yourself in your most unlovable moments.”

But Berry, who won an Oscar for her role in “Monster’s Ball,” can’t claim the sexiest-woman honor all to herself. “I share this title with every woman, because every woman is a nominee for it at any moment,” she says.

Casting ‘Alice’ …

Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter will star in Tim Burton’s Disney version of “Alice in Wonderland,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Depp will play the Mad Hatter. Hathaway will play the White Queen while Burton’s fiancee Bonham Carter will play the Red Queen. Eighteen-year-old Australian actress Mia Wasikowska will play Alice. Burton’s take on Lewis Carroll’s novel is slated for release in March 2010 and will use a mixture of live action and animation.

Out of rehab …

An attorney for David

Duchovny says the actor has checked out of a rehabilitation facility for treatment of sex addiction.

Duchovny, 48, who plays a sex-obsessed character on Showtime’s “Californication,” voluntarily entered the facility in late August. Says lawyer Stanton Stein: “David has successfully completed his rehabilitation, he is out of rehab and will be starting a movie soon.”

Duchovny starred as the conspiracy- minded Fox Mulder on “The X-Files” TV series and in two films. He and wife, actress Tea Leoni, have two children. The couple married in 1997.

Stork report…

Former “American Idol” contestant Paris Bennett, 20, has given birth to a daughter named Egypt.

Bennett was in labor for five hours before her 5-pound, 15-ounce baby was born in Minneapolis on Monday. In a news release, she says she’s “so excited to finally see my little angel.” Bennett adds, “Man, does she have lungs on her. I guess she’s gearing up to be the next American Idol.” Bennett is scheduled to release a Christmas CD, “A Royal Christmas,” next week.

Honor for Douglas …

Actor-producer Michael Douglas has been chosen to receive the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award, 18 years after the same honor was bestowed on his father, Kirk Douglas.

Douglas, 64, who won an Oscar for “Wall Street” and also starred in “Fatal Attraction,” “Romancing the Stone,” “Basic Instinct,” “The China Syndrome” and “Wonder Boys,” will receive the award at a ceremony in Los Angeles on June 11. “Michael Douglas is the rightful heir to the throne of the royal family of American film,” Howard Stringer, chair of the AFI board of trustees, said in making the announcement. He praised Douglas as both an actor and as the producer of films; including “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Starman” and “Face/Off.”
