The daily dish... a spicy serving of celebrity news
Quaid strikes back …
Dennis Quaid is furious at ex-wife Meg Ryan for talking about their divorce while promoting “The Women.”
Ryan, who plays a scorned wife in the movie, recently told In Style magazine that she wasn’t the first to stray when she had a much-publicized affair with Russell Crowe while shooting “Proof of Life.” “Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful,” she told In Style.
She repeated the charge to ABC’s Diane Sawyer, adding: “I just feel like every now and then you have to fill in the gaps for people.” Now Quaid is returning fire. “It was eight years ago, and I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship,” the actor told the New York Daily News. “Also, I find it regrettable that our son, Jack, has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce.”
Quaid, who went on to marry real estate agent Kimberly Buffington and have twins last November, adds: “I, myself, moved on years ago and am fortunate to have a happy, beautiful family.”
Treated and released …
Janet Jackson has been released from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where she was taken Monday after becoming ill during a sound check.
Rebecca Burns, the spokeswoman for the McGill University Health Centre, which operates the hospital, told People online that Jackson, 42, was taken to the hospital and released a few hours later. Jackson, 42, canceled her show in Montreal on Monday and was taken to the hospital after she “got suddenly ill” during her sound check, according to a statement from W&W Public Relations. Further details of the singer’s condition were not immediately available.
Jackson kicked off her Rock Witchu tour promoting her latest album, “Discipline,” in Vancouver on Sept. 10. She is due to perform in Boston tonight.
Miller wins …
Actress Sienna Miller has accepted more than $25,000 in damages in an out-of-court settlement against the Daily Star over a paparazzi photo, reports the BBC News.
The 26-year-old star took action over the picture taken in Los Angeles, which she claimed violated her privacy. The paper also printed an apology. The Daily Star said it accepted she was “extremely harassed and distressed by persistent pursuit and intimidating tactics” adopted by the paparazzi. “We apologize to Sienna for publishing this photograph.”
Miller’s private life has been the subject of numerous newspaper stories since her failed romance with Jude Law, her costar in “Alfie.” In January, she won a High Court privacy case against a photographer who took nude pictures of her without her consent. The photos were taken while Miller was filming “Hippie Hippie Shake,” based on the memoirs of Richard Neville.
