TV Mail Box / Petersen’s resume is extensive beyond ‘CSI’
Q: I so enjoy watching William Petersen on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” but I don’t recall ever seeing him in anything else. Could I have some information on him? — Christy Thompson, Columbus, Ohio
A: You’ll undoubtedly be seeing him in other things soon, since he’s leaving the hugely popular CBS crime drama 10 episodes into its upcoming season. Landing him for the series — on which he’s also been a producer throughout its run — was considered quite the “get” when it began, since his movie career had been quite active. Among his films are “To Live and Die in L. A.,” “Manhunter,” “Cousins,” “Hard Promises,” “Fear” and “The Contender.”
On television, Petersen also has appeared in “The Kennedys of Massachusetts” (as family patriarch Joseph), “Return to Lonesome Dove,” “The Beast,” “12 Angry Men” and “The Rat Pack” (as another Kennedy, John F.).
Petersen maintains a love for stage performing; that’s why he was absent from “CSI” for a number of episodes last year, since he was doing a play. Expect more of that in his post- “CSI” career, though it’s been indicated that he may pop back up on the show from time to time.

Q: Is the woman who plays Heather on “The Young and the Restless” the same actress who played Diane Keaton’s daughter in “The First Wives Club”? — Donna Harris, Denver
A: Heather is played by Vail Bloom, who didn’t have many other acting credits (“Las Vegas” being one of them) before she started her CBS daytime role last year.
The “First Wives Club” performer in question is Jennifer Dundas, who actually was playing Keaton’s daughter for the second time; she had done it previously in “Mrs. Soffel.”

Q: What has Liza Snyder been doing lately? — Scott Koch, Fort Smith, Ark.
A: The actress has no credits listed beyond the end of the CBS sitcom “Yes, Dear” in 2006.

Q: Janine Turner appeared in a TV movie that was a modern- day “Beauty and the Beast,” in which she played a portrait artist. What is the name of that movie, and is it on video? — Cynthia Goad, Milwaukee
A: Made for CBS in 1998, the film simply was titled “Beauty.” Though copies of it are for sale online, those are recordings made from television; it hasn’t been released commercially. Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network have shown the drama in recent years.

Q: What ever happened to Roberta Shore, who played Betsy on “The Virginian”? She also was in the Disney movie “The Shaggy Dog.” — Georgia Akey, Denver
A: After the run of the 1960s NBC Western series, she basically left show business, at least in terms of being in front of the camera. Mormon-raised, she relocated to Salt Lake City and became a disc jockey in the 1980s. Reportedly, she has been a furniture- business representative most recently.
