Food fund-raisers

Some edible fund-raisers to mark on your calendar:

• Wine & Wags (6 to 9 p. m. Wednesday; SPCA, 205 Ensminger Road, Tonawanda): An event for both canines and humans (age 21 and over) featuring wine, beer, food and music — plus a canine agility course and doggie treats. Price is $35 per person in advance, $45 at door. Call 629-3523.

• Nickel City Opera Grand Italian Dinner (6 p. m. June 22; Ilio DiPaolo’s, 3785 South Park Ave., Blasdell): A six-course Italian dinner with Valerian Ruminski and other young artists singing the “Barber of Seville.” Price is $45 per person, to benefit Nickel City Opera. • Miles for Smiles (6 to 9 p. m. July 20; Rich Atrium, One Robert Rich Way): Sixth annual wine-tasting event with hors d’oeuvres, coffee bar, desserts, music and wine ring toss. For the benefit of the Craniofacial Center of Western New York and the Comprehensive Oral Health for Disabled Youth Program. $35 per ticket; $40 at the door. Wasabi now has a location at 3701 McKinley Parkway, near the McKinley Mall in Hamburg. This is an offshoot of the Wasabi restaurants on Elmwood Avenue and Transit Road in Williamsville. Hours are 11 a. m. to 10 p. m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a. m. to 10:30 p. m. Friday and Saturday. Reservations are accepted; call 828-1881.

Father’s Day brunch

Maybe Dad doesn’t want to grill. If that’s the case, a brunch will take place from 11 a. m. to 1:30 p. m. June 21 in Salvatore’s Italian Gardens (6461 Transit Road, Depew). The price is $23.95 for adults; $11.95 for children 12 to 5 years old. Reserve by calling 683-7990.
