WKBW-TV reporter Julie Fine is leaving the station for a job in Pittsburgh, which is a much larger market than Buffalo.

Fine, who has been a reporter at Channel 7 for more than seven years after arriving from an Erie, Pa., station, confirmed Tuesday that her last day at the local station will be April 7.

The 1995 Tulane University graduate is excited about joining WPXI-TV, the NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh.

“It is a big market, No. 23 in the country,” said Fine. “It is a great opportunity for me.”

She said her departure from Channel 7 has nothing to do with the station’s problems in recent years, and she spoke positively about her experiences at a station in her hometown.

“I got to work in my hometown and be with my family,” said Fine. “I got to grow as a reporter to the point I got a job in Pittsburgh.”

Her father, Robert, is a prominent Buffalo attorney, and her mother, Eileen, is a retired Buffalo teacher.

“My parents got to watch me on television every night,” said Fine. “It was terrific.”

She described leaving her hometown as “sad but exciting.”

“I have had a wonderful experience at Channel 7,” said Fine. “I have friends who will be with me for the rest of my life.”

John DiSciullo, Channel 7’s director of news, praised Fine “as a passionate reporter.”

“While we are sad to see her leave her hometown, this is a wonderful opportunity for her.”

Ratings boost?

Remember the Kanye West moment during the Oscars in which Elinor Burkett, the producer of the HBO documentary short subject “Music by Prudence,” rudely interrupted the speech of the winning director, Roger Ross Williams?

Well, maybe that incident will increase ratings for the film, which HBO2 is carrying May 12. According to HBO, it tells “the inspiring story of a band of disabled Zimbabwe teenagers and their lead singer, Prudence Mabhena.”

Fox returnees

Inquiring minds want to know: When is “Lie to Me” returning to Fox?

New episodes return Monday, June 7. New episodes of “Past Life,” which was dropped after a few episodes, return to Fox in the dead night of Friday on May 28. The network gives a special “American Idol”-fueled preview to a new comedy, “The Good Guys,” on Wednesday, May 19. It will then run on Mondays, starting June 7.

The show stars Bradley Whitford (“The West Wing”) as a “a washed-up, old-school cop” paired with a by-the-book, modern-day detective (Colin Hanks, Tom’s son, whose credits include “Mad Men”).

The “Glee” season finale is Tuesday, June 8; reruns will air at 8 p. m. Wednesdays starting June 16.

Thursdays on NBC

NBC has announced that the Thursday comedies “30 Rock,” “The Office” and “Community” will return next season. It previously renewed “Parks and Recreation.”

Judge Paula

“Drop Dead Diva,” the popular Lifetime comedy, returns for its second season Sunday, June 6.

The Season Two opener will feature Paula Abdul, who played “Judge Paula Abdul” last season. Repeats of Season One episodes will begin April 11 after original episodes of “Army Wives.”

Lifetime also will air an all-day marathon of the first season of “Drop Dead Diva” on Sunday, May 30, from 10 a. m to 11 p. m.
