Top-flight audition
After successfully hobnobbing with invited guests last Tuesday at President Obama’s first state dinner in the White House, party crashers Michaele and TareqSalahi have another high-profile goal: Become part of Bravo’s upcoming reality series, “Real Housewives of D. C.”
First, they have some explaining to do.
Bravo told E! Online News that they were misled by the Virginia-based socialites, who told the network that they were invited to the banquet. They even allowed a production company to film them prior to their uninvited arrival.
After sneaking past the Secret Service, the Salahis posed for photos with the first couple, which, according to E! Online, they later posted on their Facebook page.
Meanwhile, a television executive told the Associated Press the couple is shopping interviews with the networks and seeking payments of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The couple might need that money if two U. S. senators have their way. They say authorities ought to pursue criminal charges against the Salahis.
He has a dream
Susan Boyle’s brother would like Kathy Bates to play his sister in the movie of her life. “If an unknown woman from Scotland can go on to become the biggest-selling artist in America then anything is possible,” Gerry Boyle told Radar Online. “We are all very proud of Susan and her dream really has come true with these fantastic CD sales.”
Simon Cowell is rumored to be producing a movie version of Susan Boyle’s life. “There have been scripts made from a lot less than Susan’s story,” her brother told Radar Online.
Susan Boyle became an overnight sensation after appearing several months ago on “Britain’s Got Talent,” and last week released her first album, “I Dreamed A Dream,” named for the song from the musical “Les Miserables” that catapulted her to stardom. The album also includes Boyle’s cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.”
Who would Gerry Boyle like to play him on the silver screen?
Brad Pitt would be just fine, he said.
A better blend
Move over, Gosselin family, you’re being replaced by something with better taste.
“Cake Boss” takes over the time slot that had been occupied by “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” which is ending its run, the New York Post reports.
“Cake Boss” features Buddy Valastro, who runs Carlos’ Bakery in Hoboken, N. J., and who concocts cakes that can fetch up to $3,000. The show launched its second season in late October and draws an audience of more than 2 million viewers, according to the Post.
“It’s like being an artist,” Valastro said. “You spend days painting a painting. When you finish it, you step back, you feel like you want to fall down, then you say, ‘Look what I did with my God-given hands.’ When I’m making cakes, I go into that zone, I don’t hear nothing, I don’t feel nothing, all my pain goes away. It clears my mind.”
