Marshall H. Gould, World War II Navy veteran and Bell Aerospace retiree, died Thursday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was 83.

Born in Cassadaga, Mr. Gould grew up on a farm without electricity and attended Cassadaga Valley Central School. In 1942 his family moved to Buffalo, and he attended Lafayette High School, working after school for Curtiss- Wright.

After graduating from high school in 1944, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Kleinsmith and USS Catron.

A longtime Town of Tonawanda resident, Mr. Gould worked for Western Electric from 1946 until 1951, when he joined Bell Aircraft as an electronics technician. Mr. Gould traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and gardener, enjoyed woodworking and woodcarving, and built his own sailboat.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Patricia Henderson; a daughter, Nancy Sheldon; and a son, David.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p. m. next Saturday in

D. Lawrence Ginnane Funeral Home, 3215 Delaware Ave., Kenmore.
