Warren Black, a retired factory worker and active church member, died Thursday in his Buffalo home. He was 75. Born in Waverly, Ala., Mr. Black attended local public schools there and moved to Buffalo in 1952 with his wife, the former Valenzia Warren.

For 30 years, he did foundry work at Dresser Industries, retiring in the mid-1980s. Then he worked at Ruslander&Sons for 10 years, retiring from there in 1999.

Mr. Black was a self-taught mechanic who worked on engines and did body work. He was a co-founder of the Rohr Street Block Club.

A handyman, Mr. Black taught himself heating, air-conditioning and electrical repair and carpentry. He also enjoyed gardening.

In 1971, he joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a trustee, member of the foreign missions ministry and sat on the board of Christian education.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, survivors include one daughter, Claudette Black Deyamport; one sister, Rosie Lee Core; and two brothers, Curtis Lee and Raymon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 226 Cedar St.
