Wilson Greatbatch, the founder of Greatbatch Inc., won the National Medal of Technology in 1990. That makes Esther S. Takeuchi, of the University at Buffalo and formerly of Greatbatch, the second Western New Yorker to win what is now called the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. It was incorrectly reported Friday that she was the first to win it.

Robert D. Gioia, president of the John R. Oishei Foundation, was named the 2009 Buffalo-Niagara Executive of the Year by the University at Buffalo School of Management. The name of the award was incorrect in Sunday’s editions.
