Viatran will move to Wheatfield
Viatran, a Grand Island maker of pressure and measurement sensors, is getting ready to move into new digs in Wheatfield.
In January, Viatran will leave its Industrial Road site and make Calamar’s Woodlands Corporate Center East the new home of its New York headquarters. It will fill 18,000 square feet of the 42,000- square-foot, mixed-use complex. The 30-acre business park is located on Forest Parkway, off Shawnee Road near Niagara Falls Boulevard.
“This move is a major step in Dynisco’s strategic growth plan and will allow product expansion opportunities in a first-class manufacturing facility,” said Ken Brown, president of Dynisco Instruments, in a statement.
The Massachussetts-based Dynisco acquired Viatran in 2005.
In September, Viatran was granted a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement from the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency with the promise to create 25 new jobs over three years. It also receives 150 kilowatts of low-cost hydroelectric power from Empower Niagara, a not-for-profit development corporation which grants power incentives to qualifying companies.
Under the terms of the standard industrial PILOT deal, the company will receive an 80 percent property tax abatement in the first two years and will be exempt from paying sales tax on building materials.
Founded in a garage on Buffalo’s West Side in 1965, the company now employs 50 people.
