MARILLA

Newcomer endorsed for board by 2 parties

Story tools:

One newcomer joined the incumbents in winning endorsements from Marilla Republican and Democratic committees for election this year.

Joseph Lankes, 22, a recent Buffalo State College grad, has been endorsed by both parties for a Town Board seat.

The Democrats did not endorse any candidate for supervisor, but did endorse the rest of the Republican slate, including Dan Handy, a local farmer, for his first four-year term. Handy had won election to fill out the term of George Gertz, who was elected supervisor.

The Republicans endorsed Gertz for a second two-year term. Gertz previously was a councilman for eight years.
