Around town / Public meetings in local communities this week

Cheektowaga

The Planning Board will meet at 8:15 a. m. Tuesday in Room 901 of City Hall. Also this week:

• The Common Council’s Finance Committee will meet at 10 a. m. Tuesday in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall.

• The Common Council’s Community Development Committee will meet at 1 p. m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.

• The Common Council’s Legislation Committee will meet at 2 p. m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.

• The Board of Ethics will meet at 9 a. m. Wednesday in Room 1317 of City Hall. The Town Board will have a work session at 6 p. m. Tuesday in Town Hall, 3301 Broadway at Union Road.

Erie County

The Legislature opens a public hearing at 9 a. m. Wednesday on the fourth floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin St., on folding the county Department of Youth Services and the Department of Youth Detention into the larger county Department of Social Services. The new structure, which County Executive Chris Collins considers an efficient merger of child-services programs, requires changing the County Administrative Code and the County Charter. Also this week:

• The County Legislature meets at 2 p. m. Thursday on the fourth floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin St.

Springville

The Springville-Griffith Institute School Board will meet at 7 p. m. Tuesday at Concord Town Hall, 86 Franklin St. The transportation policy will be discussed.

Town of Tonawanda

The Town Board meets at 7:30 p. m. Monday in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A work session begins at 4 in the conference room.
