Springville man charged with DWI, reckless driving

Story tools:

A Springville man was arrested on DWI charges Tuesday morning after he allegedly tried to evade an Erie County sheriff’s deputy.

Daniel T. Heim, 30, was stopped after his vehicle allegedly crossed into the oncoming lane on North Street in Springville. Officials said the vehicle matched the description of one that a citizen had earlier witnessed speeding and moving erratically.

Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Bouton activated his patrol car’s overhead lights, but Heim allegedly refused to pull over. Officials said he instead pulled into his driveway in an apparent attempt to evade the deputy.

The Sheriff’s Office said Heim showed signs of intoxication, was uncooperative and refused to take a breath test when he was stopped at about 12:30 a. m.

Heim was charged with DWI and reckless driving. He was held on $500 bail pending arraignment.
