Memorial event Thursday to mark 9/11 anniversary
Members of the public are invited to a commemoration of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, to be held in the Village of Angola on Thursday evening, the seventh anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, organizers of the event said.
The “9/11 Memorial Ceremony” will begin at 6:30 p. m. in the William G. Houston Gazebo in Centennial Park on Main Street in the village.
The program will include patriotic music, the honoring of local police officers and firefighters, and a tribute to veterans.
Also at the event, Capt. Steven Nigrelli of the New York State Police, an expert on terrorism, will deliver an address, said organizational chairman Neno La- Russo.
The event is free and open to the public.
