6-vehicle crash leaves mom, 2 kids seriously injured
A Hamburg woman and her two children remained hospitalized Friday after being seriously injured in a six-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Route 5 in the Town of Hamburg.
Hamburg police said Rachel Cattarin, 28, was heading west on Route 5 in the Mount Vernon section at about 6:45 a. m., when her vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and sideswiped four other vehicles before striking another one head-on.
Cattarin was listed in stable condition in Erie County Medical Center.
Her two children, identified only as a 6-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, were listed in critical but stable condition in Women and Children’s Hospital, town police said.
Town police said that a medical condition led to Cattarin losing control of her vehicle.
