Ribbon-cutting set for school playground
The South Davis Elementary School playground in Orchard Park is open.
The official ribbon-cutting will be at 9:30 a. m. Tuesday, with a rain date of Wednesday.
The new playground replaces a wooden structure that was built in 1989. Its original life expectancy was 15 years, and rotten wood, bees and broken joints all became safety concerns.
The PTO conducted fashion shows over the years to raise the local share of the cost of the playground, and the district is receiving state building aid as part of its capital project to fund the remaining cost.
