ANGOLA
Law would protect water supply
The Angola Village Board proposed a new law Monday night to help protect the village’s water supply from contamination.
It is aimed at measures that will help prevent backflow of possible contaminants into the village’s water supply. This law would bring the village into compliance with state Department of Health mandates on the subject.
According to the local law, the village crew chief would be responsible for inspections of water distribution systems and would decide, according to policy and the level of potential hazard, whether a customer should install an approved backflowprevention assembly. Any assembly installation would be done at the property owners’ expense.
Previously installed assemblies would have to be inspected and tested once a year.
A public hearing on the proposed law has been set for 8:05 p. m. Sept. 8.
