Hot-air balloon business wins special-use permit
Hot-air balloons will be in the skies over South Wales and East Aurora year-round.
The Wales Town Board Tuesday night approved a special-use permit for Aurora Balloon Co. to operate a hot-air balloon airport at 6893 Olean Road in South Wales — on a site zoned for agriculture.
The board, after reviewing the state environmental review, OK’d the permit on the condition that Mark Gietler, owner of Aurora Balloon, comply with town code, sign, parking and FAA licensing requirements.
