The Angola Village Board resolved at a meeting Monday night to sign off on cooperation in a Southtowns community enhancement coalition.

The Village of Angola has previously worked in a similar coalition aimed at enhancing the environment, economic prosperity and community well-being of the involved municipalities.

Angola was involved in the previous coalition with the towns of Evans, Brant, Eden and North Collins, as well as the villages of North Collins and Farnham. The village recently reviewed a proposed certificate of incorporation and bylaws for a not-for-profit corporation called Southtowns Community Enhancement Coalition.

The board authorized Mayor Howard Frawley to execute and deliver to the proper New York State authorities the certificate of incorporation, as well as to complete the organization of the corporation, including adoption of bylaws and attendance of directors’ meetings.

In other business, the board:

• Announced that the Erie County Economic Development and Planning Office’s Facade Program, which aims to help owners of commercial properties with architectural services, will be visiting the village within the next two weeks.

• Approved the purchase of a $2,200 rotary cutter for use by village crews. The cutter will be used to cut brush from the street sides, as well as public rights-of-way.

• Noted that, according to village code and New York State law, fireworks cannot be set off within the village without a permit granted by the mayor.
