9,176 state residents are missing tax refunds

Story tools:

The Internal Revenue Service says it is looking for 9,176 New York State residents who have a total of $14.5 million in federal tax refund checks coming to them.

The refund checks were returned to the IRS by the U. S. Postal Service because of mailing address errors, said Dianne Besunder, an IRS spokeswoman.

Taxpayers who did not receive their IRS refunds in the past tax year can check IRS.gov for information, or call a toll-free hotline at (800) 829-1954.
