HINSDALE — Communities from Yorkshire south to the Pennsylvania state line are proud of their Route 16 Corridor brand and are inviting the public to come outside Saturday and become part of the view as part of the Sweet 16 Bicycle Tour.
The tour is a group of rides that will suit cyclists of all abilities and begin at the Hinsdale American Legion. The Bike and Bison Rally is open to anyone who wants to ride, and participants are encouraged to donate a food item that will be distributed to the corridor’s food pantries in Ischua, Hinsdale, Olean and Delevan.
At 11:30 a. m., several short rides will cruise the four-and eight-mile runs along the nearby scenic back roads, circling Fay Hollow, Pennsylvania Road, Union Valley Road and Gile Hollow Road, where cyclists will pass the large herd of bison grazing at the Maple Ridge Farms.
Participants can register online or at 8 a. m. to join a 10:30 a. m. start for a 30-mile loop to Franklinville, or an 8:30 a. m., 60- mile round trip to Delevan, returning to the Hinsdale American Legion. To register, go to www.cattco.org and find the Sweet 16 Bicycle Tour on the Cattaraugus County tourism homepage. Post-ride activities will include live musical entertainment and food. The event is co-sponsored by the Hinsdale American Legion and Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism.
